Community Food Hub & Drop-In

Healthy produce, bread and non-perishable food for children, families, seniors and individuals.

Along with a monthly food hamper, you can enjoy a healthy meal and social interaction at each drop-in. We invite you to shop in our grocery store style Food Bank to select food items of your choosing. Eligible participants need to be residents of Hope to qualify. On your first visit, please bring ID for yourself and each member of your family/household.

For more information about the Community Food Hub, please contact Dianne MacDonnell at dianne@hopecommunityservices.com or Kim Paolini at kim@hopecommunityservices.com or call our main office at 604-869-2466.

While we are located inside the Northwest Harvest Church at 888 3rd Avenue, we have no affiliation with the Church other than as friends and tenants.

Individuals & Couples

Individuals and couples are eligible to receive a food hamper once per month on either the first three Wednesdays and Thursdays of each month between 12:00 and 2:00pm.

We invite you to shop in our welcoming and friendly grocery store style environment to select food items of your choosing.  We have a selection of healthy, organic produce from the Food Bank Production garden (during the growing season) and produce from the Food Recovery project in partnership with Save-On Foods.

If you’re pressed for time, we’ll still have pre-packaged hampers on hand to get you out the door quickly.

A nutritious lunch is provided at each drop-in!

FREE Curbside Market

Each week the Community Food Hub offers a FREE Curbside Market located at the Northwest Harvest Church, 888 3rd Avenue.

Recovered produce and non-perishable food items, along with an assortment of rescued bakery products are available for your choosing.

Mondays – Thursdays 1:30 – 3:30

Families with Children

While families can access the Food Bank any time we are open, we encourage you to join us on the 4th Monday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 for a special Family Day.

We have activities for the kids, a smoothie station, cooking demos and family-friendly meals.

We encourage the kids to join in on the food prep in a safe and fun manner!

Parents can shop in the friendly grocery store-style food bank to choose items from a selection of healthy, organic produce from the Food Bank Production garden (during the growing season) and produce from the Food Recovery project in partnership with Save-On Foods.

Staff and various community professionals will also be on hand to provide resources, support and to answer any questions you may have.

Our Community Food Bank & Drop-In programs rely almost entirely on the generous donations of community members, businesses and organizations and a small grant from BC Gaming.  We could not serve the community the way we do without the support of individuals, businesses & organizations like yourselves.  If you would like to help make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, families, seniors and individuals in our community, visit our donation page today!

Community Gardens

Join a community of neighbours who grow food sustainably and eat healthy.

This volunteer-led program allows Hope and area residents with a love of growing plants to grow their own produce, attend meetings, and voice ideas for improving the community gardens.

Under the guidance of the Lead Volunteer Garden Coordinator, Esther Brysch, gardeners plant, care for and harvest a range of vegetables, berries and herbs.  Esther also supports the School Garden Program and oversees the large Community Food Bank garden.

Gardening is beneficial to both our physical and mental well-being and provides a sustainable source of organic, healthy and nutritious food!  Even if you’re new to gardening our Garden Coordinator and Garden Members love to support those new to gardening.

Plot fees:

$30 for outdoor raised or low growing plot
$60 for a 4x4 raised or low growing Greenhouse plot

The Community Gardens are located behind Coquihalla Elementary school on Coquihalla Street.  For more information or to register for a plot, please contact Hope Community Services at 604-869-2466.

If you would like to volunteer to work in the Community Food Bank garden, Coquihalla School Garden or any other garden area, please contact Hope Community Services at 604-869-2466.  Volunteers are always needed and welcomed!

This program is made possible with the support of the District of Hope & School District #78 (land use), the Province of BC and donations from the community members and local businesses.  If you would like to make a donation to support the Community Garden, please visit our donation page today!
